I am curious as to why a helicopter would get ’sucked in’ (the Mimy Mine). Anyone have any ideas on this?

To me the most amazing thing about the diamond mines is the effort man will go to in order to find a few diamonds per ton of ore. Believe it or not, diamonds are one of the more common elements on Earth. It’s the gemstone grade diamond which is relatively rare. The incredible number of diamonds mined from the Kimberly mine is also mind boggling. Think about it. 6,600 pounds or 3,300 Kilograms of gem grade diamond. There are 5,000 carats to a Kilogram. That equals 16,500,000 (16 million five hundred thousand) carats! It’s hard to figure the overall value of this many diamonds due to the fluctuations in price over the number of years the mine was open, but at today’s prices for a one carat diamond, it would come to somewhere in the region of 170 Billion dollars! And that’s for just one mine.
